Les Artisans de Genève is a watchmaking workshop providing customization companies for personal prospects. The unique side of their work is that they carry out elaborate modifications. Don’t count on them to go for the easy black-PVD coated case… Their collaboration with Juan Pablo Montoya already gave us an concept of their “in-depth” strategy. At the moment, Les Artisans de Genève unveils a brand new customization program carried out on a Rolex Daytona, a completely skeletonized piece made in collaboration with ex-Method 1 driver Rubens Barrichello.
Based mostly on the basic Rolex Daytona 116520 in metal with metal bezel, the Artisans de Genève ”La Barrichello” stands out by the way in which their staff has remodeled the Rolex calibre 4130 Chronograph, giving the watch a sportier and extremely mechanical fashion.
Introduced in a very completely different gentle, the Rolex Chronograph motion is totally disassembled, skeletonized – elements typically need to be absolutely manufactured – and (re)adorned by hand in a powerful approach. The rotor is impressed by the form of Rubens Barrichello’s automotive trim. It’s normal out of 21ok gold and black DLC-coated. The motion options some high-end decorations, reminiscent of hand-chamfered bridges or polished bevels. Altogether, the modification requires 260 hours of labor. The motion can be seen by a selected sapphire caseback.
On the subject of the “habillage”, the matte openwork dial now reveals the modified motion. Solely the rings across the sub-dials are stored, with redesigned form and completely different inscriptions. For example, the 12-hour counter is handled in silver with crimson font whereas the 2 others are stored discreet in black. The internal flange on the periphery of the dial can be new, with distinctive luminous markers. The fingers are changed and repainted by hand.
The case stands out with DLC-coated pushers/crown. Additionally new is the ceramic bezel, changing the unique metal bezel of the Daytona 116520. The Artisans de Genève ”La Barrichello” options its personal, authentic bezel with crimson “tachymeter” inscription and particular scale/markings. Lastly, the case is re-polished and re-brushed for a particular ending.
For the creation of this particular watch, Artisans de Genève collaborated with two watchmakers/craftsmen from the Vallee de Joux, Philippe Narbel and Julien Tixier. The Daytona ”La Barrichello” is worn on a re-finished Oyster metal bracelet or on a black rubber strap with crimson central line, on folding buckle.
Naturally, we don’t count on Rolex to approve this watch, however all in all, the Artisans de Genève ”La Barrichello” is a spectacular tackle the Daytona. Worth is about at CHF 50,800. For extra info, you may go to www.artisansdegeneve.com.
